Sinclair to Step Down as Softball Head Coach

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton softball Head Coach Katie Sinclair has announced she is stepping away from the program after five seasons at the helm, Houghton Director of Athletics Matthew Webb announced today.

Sinclair will be transitioning to a position in the college's Office of Admission.

Sinclair came to the Highlanders prior to the 2017 season after a stellar career at St. Bonaventure University. She ends her career as the program's all-time leader in wins. During her time at Houghton, the Cortland, N.Y. native produced a record of 47-95 overall and 13-39 in the Empire 8.

"Coach Sinclair has left her mark on the Houghton softball program. Under her leadership, the program has seen growth both on and off the field, as she has not only developed softball players, but more importantly young women to impact the Kingdom," said Webb. "The culture of Houghton softball is in a good place due to the influence of Coach Sinclair these past five years. Although we will miss Katie in the department, we are confident in the Lord's leading her to a new role in our Admission office, and look forward to continuing to work with her as we recruit student-athletes to Houghton."

Houghton has started the search for the program's fifth head coach since reinstating the program in 2012.

The job description and application process will be posted soon on the Houghton Human Resources website.
