Highlanders Fall in Lopsided Loss to Cardinals

PITTSFORD, NY— What looked like an emerging pitchers' duel through the first four innings turned into lopsided victory for the St. John Fisher Cardinals as they completed a five-game season sweep of the Houghton Highlanders, 21-0.

Through four innings Fisher's Hunter Walsh and Houghton's Jeremey Wilcox traded outs.  But with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, the Cardinals rallied to score five runs on three hits, knocking Wilcox from the game.

After a scoreless sixth, the Cardinals touched up Houghton reliever Ethan Cetton for two more runs when Adam Zebrowski deposited his 15th homerun of the season over the Fisher bullpen in left field.

The bulwark of the damage, though, was yet to come, as the Cardinals plated 14 runs in the eighth inning, finishing off their 21 run performance.

Walsh improved to 3-0 on the season, tossing seven strong innings, allowing only three hits and two walks, while striking out six.
