HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Houghton women's lacrosse team lost 21-6 to the visiting Sage Gators in today's Empire 8 contest.

The Highlanders got off to a quick start when sophomore midfielder Mikayla Simons gave them the lead with 24:43 on the clock. Despite the early goal, Houghton went into the half trailing 11-3.

The Highlanders came out strong to start the second half and scored within a minute of the restart through Reegan Mitchell. After a bit of back and forth, the Gators were able to finish the half the stronger team, eventually running out as winners. Zoe Modesto finished the game in net for the Highlanders after a first half injury to starting goalkeeper Kayleigh Kneitinger.
