HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton women's soccer scored once in the first half and added two more in the second to earn a 3-1 win over Elmira on Tuesday night.
The Highlanders put pressure on the Soaring Eagles from the start and earned a PK in the 13th minute when a Houghton attacker was taken down in the box.
Moriah Steffen converted the penalty to put Houghton up 1-0.
The visitors evened the score with a counter attack in the 50th minute that Taylor Hanson converted into a goal. But
Tess Schilke provided what would turn out to be the game-winner, following up on a hard shot by
Erin Maggio that the keeper was unable to handle. The final tally went to Steffen in the 79th minute.
