PITTSFORD, NY – Jordan Holmes became the 26
th player in Houghton men's basketball history to eclipse 1,000 career points, but the Highlanders (1-6) fell to conference front-runner St. John Fisher (7-1) on Tuesday night, 85-64.
Entering the game, Holmes needed 13 points to reach the career milestone, which he matched in the second half on one of his nine converted free throws. Holmes would go on to score a team-high 21 points, giving him 1,008 career points.
The Highlanders remained in contention throughout the majority of the game, trailing by only two at the half, and only three late in the second half. Down the stretch the Cardinals pushed the lead into double-digits and eventually over the 20-point differential.
Fisher's Daniel Cook turned in a dominant performance, netting a game-high 38 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots.
