HOUGHTON, NY— After nearly 67 minutes of high quality basketball over the past 22 hours, the Houghton Highlanders women's basketball team finally ran out of gas, falling to the Grove City Wolverines on Saturday afternoon, 87-58.
Following a victory over Waynesburg last night, Houghton led by as many as eight points early in the third quarter, and still maintained a lead with less than 13 minutes to play in the game.
Over the final 13 minutes, the high-energy that carried the Highlanders up to that point seemed to fade, as they struggled to break the Grove City press, and the Wolverines capitalized, outscoring Houghton, 42-12, over the final stretch.
