ONEONTA, N.Y. – Maggie Kirby and Juliana Pritchard combined for 41 points, leading the Hartwick Hawks past the Houghton Highlanders on Saturday evening, 77-48.
Kirby and Pritchard went 15-26 from the floor as the Hawks shot 52 percent from the floor, including 58 percent from beyond the arc.
Hartwick came out of the gates hard and fast, jumping out to a 15-point lead by the end of the first quarter. Houghton found their footing in the second, playing the Hawks to a 14-14 draw in the second, but still went into the half trailing, 36-21.
The third quarter opened much the same as the first, with the Hawks outscoring the Highlanders by 15 points, 25-10.
In the final quarter, Houghton clipped the Hawks, 17-16, but it was too little, too late, as Hartwick picked up their ninth win of the year.
