HOUGHTON, NY— The St. John Fisher Cardinals dominated the glass on Saturday afternoon, outrebounding the Houghton Highlanders, 53-25, in a 69-56 victory.
 
Despite the Highlanders shooting a higher percentage from the floor (40.4%-to-36.9%), the Cardinals work on the boards gave them 13 more shots, enough to create the margin of victory.
 
After trailing the majority of the game, Houghton played Fisher evenly throughout the third and made their move in the final ten minutes.  Trailing by 15, Emie Taylor converted a three-point play and another layup, and Hannah Cybart drained a three to cut the Cardinals lead to nine points.
 
The two teams then continued to trade baskets over the remaining minutes and the Highlanders could pull no closer.  Fisher converted three free throws in a row down the stretch to secure the final score.

>> Emie Taylor went 7-for-9 from the floor, finishing with 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Highlanders.  She has reached double-digit points in eight of the team's 13 games this season and is currently averaging 11.4 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game.
 
>> Hannah Cybart scored 11 points, seven in the fourth quarter, and Cori Beck added 10 points and four assists.  Beck now needs only 10 more assists to move into fourth place on the Houghton career leader board.
 
>> Amy Garder led the Cardinals with 17 points, while Julia Mertsock and Ella Eckert both pulled down double-doubles.  Mertsock posted 15 points and 13 rebounds, and added four steals, while Eckert scored 15 points and grabbed 12 boards.
