Turnovers Sink Highlanders in Loss to Fisher

HOUGHTON, NY— The team that takes care of the ball more times than not will end up in the win column.

That certainly proved true in this afternoon's Empire 8 matchup as the St. John Fisher Cardinals defeated the Houghton Highlanders, 93-56.

The Cardinals, who committed only 10 turnovers, scored 33 points off 26 Houghton giveaways.

Houghton built an early lead and played Fisher neck-and-neck through the game's first 13 minutes.  However, over the final seven minutes of the half the Cardinals would outscore the Highlanders, 22-3, to take a 40-21 lead into the locker room.

In the second half the Cardinals slowly but consistently pulled away, ensuring their victory midway through the period and maintaining their lead throughout.
