Houghton, NY – The Houghton College Women's Soccer team dropped a close match at home against Empire 8 opponent, Hartwick College, by a score of 1-0.
 
Houghton spent most of the game playing defense as they withstood consistent attacks from the Hawks.
 
The defense held strong up until the 57^th minute when Hartwick's Tanner Reed scored the game's only goal.
 
In the 87^th minute, Highlander Danielle Sloan got a shot on net, but the Hartwick keeper prevented the Highlanders from tying things up.
 
The Hawks held onto their lead until time expired.
