Rochester Clips Highlanders in Close Battle

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The University of Rochester Yellowjackets scored eight of the final nine points in the crucial fifth set to defeat the Houghton Highlanders, 3-2, on Tuesday night.

After Houghton turned in a dominant fourth set to tie the match the Highlanders looked like they would wrap up the final set in much the same fashion.  The Highlanders quickly built a 12-7 lead before the Yellowjackets found their footing, reeling off six straight points to take a one-point lead.

A kill by Haley Unverdorben even the score, but two consecutive kills by the Yellowjackets sealed the victory.

COACH'S CORNER
"We battled tonight.  We played really well other than some spells with a few passing miscues.  We went into the match knowing that Rochester was a really tough team and that we would need to bring it to play with them, and we did.

"Playing to five sets… the team never gave an inch.  I am really proud of the team we are and what we are becoming.  Every match we are improving mentally and physically.  In time we are going to be a real force." – Coach Joshua Tompkins
