HOUGHTON, NY – Ben DiCrasto scored the game-winning goal just over four minutes into the game, leading the Houghton Highlanders past the visiting Alfred State Pioneers on Saturday afternoon.
DiCrasto nailed a free kick from just outside the box into the upper 90 for his fourth goal of the season.
The Highlanders peppered the opposing net throughout, out-shooting the Pioneers, 23-2.
In the second half Houghton created numerous chances to score but continued to come up empty.
Nicholas D'Angelo hit the crossbar twice,
Elijah Steffen banged a shot off the near post, Houghton had a goal called back on a corner kick as the in-swinger crossed the end line before re-entering the field of play, and Alfred State keeper, Nico Coria made several huge saves, including a diving stop on a Houghton penalty kick.
