PITTSFORD, NY – The Highlanders would lose two close conference games on the road today as they took on St. John Fisher. The Cardinals strong pitching would show through today as Houghton would only produce ten hits on the day for both games.
Game 1
Houghton 0, Fisher 3
Houghton could not get past Fisher's pitcher Emily Trotman as the Highlanders only produced six hits and left seven on base. The Cardinals only had one more hit than the Highlanders but were able to capitalize with runners on base, only leaving five. A big hit for the Cardinals would put them up 2-0 at the beginning of the first inning. With runners in scoring position for the Highlanders in the second and third inning, Houghton could not seem to capitalize and bring the runners home.
Game Notes
Game 2
Houghton 2, Fisher 5
The Highlanders were able to put some runs on the board this game but it would not be enough for the win. Houghton was able to make the most of four hits, scoring two runs. Houghton would try to rally back in the last two innings, producing one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings. After a strong fifth inning by Fisher, scoring all five of their runs, a two-run rally late in the game would not be enough for the Highlanders.
