ALFRED, N.Y. -- Houghton softball managed only four hits and couldn't plate any runs in 8-0 and 2-0 losses at Alfred University on Thursday.
Game 1
Alfred 8, Houghton 0 (6 innings)
It was a pitchers' duel for most of game one, as
Kaylee Jentsch and Alfred's Jessica Wilcox battled toe to toe for four innings. But the Saxon bats came alive in the fifth inning, as the hosts put six runs on the board on five hits.
Hannah Cybart came on in relief with two outs in the fifth. The Saxons added their final two runs in the sixth to end the contest.

- Hannah Haskell had two doubles to lead the Houghton hitters
- Andrea Taboni had one hit
- Jentsch pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits
- Cybart went 0.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits
Game 2
Alfred 2, Houghton 0
The Highlanders got a strong performance from
Taylor Sile on the mound, but Wilcox again silenced the Houghton batters in a one-hit performance. Sile allowed only three hits through five innings, but the Saxons got a triple and a home run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 2-0 lead.
Game 2 Notes
- Lauren Couturier managed the sole Houghton hit on first inning lead-off single
- Sile went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with one stirkeout and no walks
