HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton men's lacrosse tied a program mark for wins in a season with a 9-5 win over Medaille College on Monday. The Highlanders are now 4-6 on the year. The team finished 4-8 in its inaugural 2013 season.
The Highlanders were able to control the first quarter against the Mavs with 3 goals combined from
Nathan Anderson and
Jonathan Mayer. Medaille finally found the back of the net with their first goal with just 1:29 left in the quarter. Houghton answered back quickly as Chapman scored seconds later. The Mavericks fought back and scored the final goal of the quarter with 4 seconds left on the clock. Both teams' defenses came out strong in quarter two with each team only allowing 1 goal.
Medaille started the scoring in quarter three but Houghton responded with 2 goals to keep their lead. Quarter 4 was not much different as the Highlanders outscored the Mavericks 2-1 once again. Houghton won 9-5 over the Mavericks. This win ties the program record for most wins in a season for the Houghton men's lacrosse team.
