Houghton Ladies Lose Tight Season-Finale to DII Daemen College

The Houghton Ladies played from behind during their final 2019 match against DII Daemen College.

The Houghton Ladies played from behind during their final 2019 match against DII Daemen College. Despite being one player down, forcing the Highlanders to start the match with a 0-2, the Houghton Women's Tennis Team pulled an impressive 3 victories against Daemen College before falling 3-6 in the overall.

Number 2 doubles (Alicia Cline & Tessa Brown) brought home the Highlander's first victory of the night with a close 9-7 defeat of Daemen's D'Sa & Otis. Cline and Brown went on to secure the remaining two victories for the ladies team. Cline made quick work of her singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 win and Brown followed up with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory.

This match marks the end of two Senior Highlander's tennis careers, Victoria Noller and Amanda Carl. Noller played first doubles and singles for Houghton this season and is finishing the season with a total of 3 singles wins and 7 doubles wins. Carl played a mixture of first and second doubles plus second and third singles for the Highlanders, finishing with a season total of 8 singles and 4 doubles wins.

"It was a great match. You always wonder what could happen if you have a full roster, but regardless the ladies played a great match. That's the best score we've had against Daemen, and that really shows a lot of grit and determination from the ladies. Both the seniors played excellent, so you really can't hope for more for their last match. We got a couple of great wins from some of our younger players too.
