HOUGHTON,NY. – Houghton women's lacrosse opened the 2019 season with a 15-11 home loss to D'Youville on Friday
D'Youville shot out to a an early two goal lead and were able to extend that lead to three goals by half time. The teams went into the half with the Spartans leading 7-4. Despite a late rally by the Highlanders the home team couldn't quite close the gap and the visitors took the win.  The Highlanders had three players record a hat trick on the night with 
Cori Beck, 
Britany Dones and 
Marissa Hews all scoring three goals. 
Kayleigh Kneitinger contributed 2 goals to the home teams tally.
