HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Houghton women's basketball lost in conference play at home, 48-63, against the Ducks of the Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon.

Assisted by Emily Swanson, Amber Edwards would put the first points on the scoreboard with a 3-point shot for the Highlanders. Stevens would trail behind the Highlanders for much of the first quarter, however, a fastbreak layup would start them on a 9-1 run and gain them a lead that they would hold onto for the rest of the game.  The second quarter would start off with a pair of free throws by Brittany Lenart, but Stevens would continue to pull ahead and Houghton would go into halftime down by 13, 20-33.

The Highlanders would come back to the court in the third quarter determined, scoring their most points of the game (15) and making all of their free throws for the quarter (6-of-6).  The fourth quarter would find the Highlanders matching the Ducks point for point, however, they would be unable to close the gap and Stevens would take the win.
