HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The 2018-2019 season came to an end for Houghton women's basketball with a 73-60 loss to St. John Fisher at home Tuesday.
With the loss, the Highlanders finish with a 11-14 overall record and a 4-12 mark in the conference.
Houghton came out strong and grabbed a 16-15 lead after one quarter of play. After going up 21-19 with 6:41 left in the second quarter, the hosts hit a dry spell, going scoreless for the rest of the half and for the first minute and a half of the third quarter. The Cardinals outscored the Highlanders 19-0 during that span to go up 38-21. Fisher would stretch the lead to as many as 24 late in the quarter and led 60-41 at the end of the third. A late push by the Highlanders brought them to within 13 with just over three minutes to play, but that's as close as they'd get down the stretch.
