HOUGHTON, NY – .Houghton men's soccer remained winless against Sage in three attempts, falling to the Gators 1-0 to close the season on Burke Field on Saturday.
It was the last career game for eight Highlander seniors, who were honored during a pregame ceremony.
Houghton controlled play throughout, holding the Gators to just four shots on the afternoon.
Kenneth Estep had Houghton's best scoring chance in the first, ripping a low shot from just outside the box that forced the Gator keeper into a sprawling save near the post.
But it was off corner in the 59th minute where the visitors broke through for the only goal of the contest. The ball was played toward the far post, headed down and then immediately headed on goal and just past the outstretched arms of keeper
Caleb Loew.
