Bussey OT Header Propels Highlanders Past Golden Eagles

BROCKPORT, NY – Daniel Bussey scored just three minutes into overtime to give Houghton men's soccer a 1-0 win over Brockport on the road Wednesday.

The win pushed the Highlanders back to .500 on the season with a record of 5-5-5. Brockport fell to 8-7-2.

The Golden Eagles had most of the possession and put more shots toward net, but the Highlander defense was equal to the task and held their own.

The teams battled in the midfield for the first two minutes of the extra session before Houghton was able to push their way into Brockport's half. Kenneth Estep gained possession about 30 yards from goal and sent a long pass into the box, where Bussey made a run to split two defenders. The senior ran under the ball and deftly headed it past the Brockport keeper from 10 yards out.
