Women’s Soccer Tops D’Youville, 2-0

BUFFALO, NY – Houghton clinched its first three-game win streak since October 2016 with a 2-0 victory over the D'Youville Spartans on Friday night at Dobson field.

Through the first 45 minutes of action, the Highlanders held a 7-1 edge in shots but failed to hit the target once as the Spartans defense proved to be impenetrable.

After a scoreless opening half, Houghton went back to the drawing board during halftime. It wasn't until the 73rd minute when the halftime adjustments paid off, as sophomore Kealy DeForest, notched a goal off of a rebounded save to put the Highlander in the lead, 1-0. About 45 seconds later, the Highlanders posted another goal by none other than Jessica Beattie to seal the deal for Houghton.

The Highlanders improve to 3-0-1 on the season, while head coach David Lewis posts the 399th win of his career in the victory over D'Youville.
