Field Hockey Falls to #18 Red Dragons

HOUGHTON, NY – Three first-half goals propelled the #18-ranked SUNY Cortland Red Dragons past the Houghton Highlanders, 4-1, on Tuesday evening on Burke Field.
 
The Red Dragons put three goals in the back of the cage in just over 10 minutes to open up a decisive lead midway through the first half.
 
Houghton never quit, finding their way onto the scoreboard in the 42nd minute when Beth Wagner found Caitlin Jennings in front of the cage for her sixth goal of the season.
 
Cortland quickly restored their three-goal lead, scoring again less than three minutes later.
 
Houghton had several other opportunities in the remaining minutes, but could not draw closer.
