GENESEO, N.Y. -- Geneseo scored their first goal in the game's first two minutes and tallied the game-winner in the 55th minute to claim a 2-1 win over Houghton men's soccer Tuesday night.
After the Knights got on the board, the teams played evenly for the rest of the first half. Shots were six apiece in the first 45 minutes.
Sophomore
Gabe VanWyk made a strong defensive play to strip a Geneseo player of the ball, broke in alone on goal and slipped a shot past the keeper to even the score in the 48th minute. But the Knights responded just seven minutes later to secure the win.
The Highlanders were able to pressure the Knights defense as throughout the second half, but each of their final six shots were blocked, saved or went just wide.
