Two Late Goals Push Highlanders Past Yellowjackets

ERIE, Pa. -- After going up 1-0 early the first half, Houghton men's soccer needed two late goals to pull out a 3-2 win over Baldwin Wallace on Day 2 of the PSU Behrend Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

As he did the day before, freshman Brice Bogna staked Houghton to a 1-0 lead, but the Yellowjackets answered with the equalizer in the 27th minute and then took a 2-1 lead on a tally midway through the second half. The Highlanders got goals from Ben DiCrasto and Julius Klohr in the 84th and 87th minutes to secure the comeback win. On the winning goal, Ben Lawrence played a long ball from the back after an offsides by Baldwin Wallace. Elijah Steffen elevated to flick a header into the box where Klohr was left one on one with the keeper and calmly slipped his shot just inside the left post.

FROM THE COACH
It was a gutsy performance today. Caleb Loew bounced back today with a much better performance in goal. Zach Shilvock filled in both at midfield and outside back due to an injury and was outstanding today. The goals were great, but it truly was a gutsy performance and a great team effort today. I'm very proud of the guys. -- Head Coach Matthew Webb
