CANTON, NY— Houghton softball, rebounding from a four-game losing streak, toppled SUNY Canton with a sweep on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: It was a showing of offensive prowess as the Highlanders put up staggering numbers to secure game one. Houghton scored the first run of the game on an error and steal with runners at first and third as
Caitlyn Cybart singled to the right field for an RBI in the top of the first inning.
Houghton would increase its lead to 4-1 in the third inning and then tore it open in the fourth on a 6-0 run. Canton would add two more runs to the count, but Houghton proved to be superior notching three for insurance in the sixth.
Hannah Cybart had an impressive appearance in Tuesday's meeting against the Roos as she went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored. Pitcher
Kaylee Jentsch (6-6) earned the win on the mound with three runs scored on seven hits.
Jentsch also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Game 2: Houghton continued to dominate and mustered up multiple season highs in game two with 16 runs, 19 hits, and 16 RBIs.
In addition to two runs scored early in the game, the Highlanders scored 11 more in the fourth while securing another four in the final inning of the game prompting a convincing win for the Highlanders.
In the fourth and fifth inning,
Barbara Richert and
Taylor Sile both homered to left-field, collecting 2 RBIs each.
Tanya Hatton (4-9) earned the win in the circle for the Highlanders with one run on three hits.
