HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis stayed in second place in the Empire 8 standings after a decisive 9-0 win over Elmira College on Tuesday in the Kerr-Pegula Field House.
The Highlanders got rolling early, dropping only two out of 26 games in the three doubles matches, winning 8-0, 8-2, 8-0.
As the match shifted to singles play, Houghton did not let up. 
Louis-Guillaume Garcia and 
Zach Shilvock took first and second singles, respectively, with identical 6-0, 6-2 scores. 
Jordan Crouch shut out his opponent 6-0, 6-0 in third singles, while 
Jake Fisler took fourth singles, 6-0, 6-3, and 
Dylan Scherer won 6-1, 6-1 in fifth singles. 
Bjorn Webb wrapped it up with a 6-0, 6-0 win in sixth singles.
The Highlanders are now 8-4 overall and 5-1 in Empire 8 play. Aside from its loss to top-ranked Stevens, Houghton has lost just one game in its six E8 matches.
Houghton returns to action on Friday, April 27 when they host Sage. They wrap up their regular season on the road against Nazareth College on Saturday.
