ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 play after a 9-0 win over Hartwick College on Friday in Elmira.
The Highlanders opened with 8-6, 8-5, 8-4 wins in the three doubles matches, then got straight-set wins in the six singles matches.
Earning wins in first through sixth singes, respectively, were

Jordan Crouch,
Jake Fisler,
Dylan Scherer and
Bjorn Webb.
"It was another good overall team performance today," said Head Coach
Matthew Webb. "I could mention every individual, but from top to bottom we were solid. We are developing a good rhythm of consistency. We just need to stay mentally focused as we approach the last week of the season."Â
The win slides Houghton past Hartwick into sole possession of second place in the conference standings. The loss dropped Harwick to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the E8.
The Highlanders have a quick turnaround as they travel to take on Utica on Saturday at 1 p.m.
