HOUGHTON, NY – Houghton men's lacrosse turned in a strong performance in their season opener at Wells but came up on the short end of a 12-9 loss Thursday.
Freshman
Nathan Anderson had a stellar debut with three goals and three assists to lead the Highlanders, who fell behind 2-0 in the first quarter, but rebounded to outscore the Express 4-2 over the game's next 17 minutes to even the score at four.
The Express scored two quick goals to go back up 6-4, and the Highlanders would never get closer than that two-goal deficit the rest of the day.
