HOUGHTON, N.Y. – It seemed that every bounce and deflection went in favor of Nazareth as the Golden Flyers flew past the Highlanders 4-1 in men's soccer action Saturday at Burke Field.
Nazareth jumped out a 3-0 halftime lead, scoring on three of their first four shots. The visitors added their fourth goal in the 51st minute before
Ben Lawrence got the Highlanders on the board with a re-direct of a cross from
Elijah Steffen in the 69th minute. Steffen had made a strong run to the left touch line and delivered a perfectly place ball to Lawrence who made a run into the six yard box.
Houghton maintained pressure down the stretch, but were unable to penetrate the back line of the defensive minded Golden Flyers.
