ALFRED, NY – Amber Edwards racked up 18 kills to lead the Houghton Highlanders to a three-game sweep of the Alfred State Pioneers on Wednesday night.
The Highlanders picked up the first two games in commanding fashion before finishing of the match with a thrilling, 30-28, final set.
In the final set, Houghton trailed, 22-24, but picked up back-to-back kills by
Haley Unverdorben and
Ally Bittinger to tie the game.
The two teams continued to trade points and the Pioneers had game-point four additional times before the Highlanders finally reeled off the final three points of the match on a kill by Edwards and back-to-back attack errors by Alfred State.

The Highlanders wrap up their season this weekend, hosting their annual tournament in the Nielsen Center. On Friday Houghton will take on Geneva College at 7:00 p.m., then match up against Cortland State and Keuka College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
