HOUGHTON, N.Y. — After two-straight losses, Houghton women's soccer earned a decisive 7-0 win over Wells College on Tuesday at Burke Field.
It was the team's fifth shutout of the campaign.
The goals were scored by seven different players with four players tallying the first scores of their careers. Freshman 
Alex Steele opened the scoring in the seventh minute, with 
Meagan Barry, 
Brielle Kwarta, 
Stephanie Beattie and 
Erin Maggio also scoring to stake the hosts to a 5-0 halftime lead. 
Jessica Beattie and 
Megan Stoltzfus added second half goals.
The majority of the contest was played in the Express end of the field. Each time the visitors cleared the ball past midfield, Houghton defenders quickly sent the ball back into the attack.
