Turnovers Sink Highlanders in Loss to Ducks

HOUGHTON, NY—A plethora of turnovers by the Houghton Highlanders, coupled with a 31-point game from Stevens' Spencer Cook, gave the Stevens Ducks their second conference of the season, 99-72, at the Nielsen Center.

The two teams battled tightly until Stevens closed the final minutes of the first half on a 12-3 run and entered the locker room leading by 10.

While the Ducks shot less than 42 percent from the floor in the first half, and the Highlanders hit nearly 59 percent of their shots, Stevens made 18 baskets while Houghton only attempted 17 thanks to 14 Highlander turnovers.

Stevens continued to roll in the second half, though the Highlanders would cut the lead to seven on two separate occasions.  Inside of five minutes remaining in the game, as the benches emptied, the Ducks opened up the scoring to finish with a 27 point victory.
