ELMIRA, N.Y. – Ben Lawrence scored the lone Highlander goal as Houghton men's soccer won its opener in Empire 8 action, 1-0 over Elmira College on Saturday.

Nic Loew sent in a cross that freshman Elijah Steffen flicked to Lawrence, who headed it past the Soaring Eagles keeper.
