Houghton took on Empire 8 Conference opponent St. John Fisher and lost 18-5 Wednesday at Burke Field.
The Cardinals came out strong out scoring the Highlanders 8-0 in the first quarter.
The Highlanders got on the board late in the second quarter with a goal by Freshman
Kevin Bigham, but were trailing 12-1 at the half. The Cardinals out shot the Highlanders 22-10 in the first half.
St. John Fisher came out the gates strong again in the second half adding another goal in the first minute of the 3rd quarter, but the Highlanders didn't go away. Houghton found the net 4 times in the second half on 3 goals by
Paul Chapman and 1 goal by
Cole Chapman.
Goalie
Jorge Medina was busy all night in the goal. He recorded 11 saves on the game.
St. John Fisher connected on 18 of 40 shots, while the Highlanders found the net on 5 of 20 shots.
Houghton's next game is at noon on Saturday vs Stevens at Burke Field.
