HOUGHTON, NY— Despite winning the opening set, the Houghton Highlanders fell to SUNY Canton, 3-1, in their opening match of the 2017 Highlander Invitational.
In the second set Houghton held a late 23-20 lead. Following a SUNY Canton timeout the Roos reeled off the next five points to tie the match.
The Roos' "go big or go home" style would take the next the two matches from the more conservative Highlanders. While Canton committed more attack errors (31-16) and more service errors (13-6), they also had far more kills (57-34) and more service aces (7-4).
