HOUGHTON, NY—Four first half goals was all the Houghton Highlanders would need as they defeated the Elmira Soaring Eagles on Saturday, 4-1.
In the 16
th minute
Tanya Hatton opened the scoring by playing a penalty corner to
Ashley Hughes at the top of the circle. Hughes stepped inside and ripped a ball to Hatton on the far post, which she promptly deposited into the back of the cage.
Houghton then unleashed a barrage of goals, scoring three times in just over five minutes to close out the half.
Elmira added a goal with less than 10 minutes to play, but the Highlanders maintained their three-goal lead to secure the victory.
