HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Ducks found their shooter's touch on Friday night, knocking down 33-of-58 shots (57 percent) from the floor, including nine three-pointers, to defeat the Houghton Highlanders, 87-49.
The Ducks nailed a three at the buzzer to end the first quarter, then opened things up in the second, outscoring the Highlanders 22-9 to take a 20-point lead into the half.
After
Elle Reed knocked down a pair of free throws midway through the third to cut the Stevens lead to 14, it looked like Houghton might make a run. The Ducks, however, had different ideas, outscoring the Highlanders 20-7 over the quarter's final four minutes.
The Highlanders could find no answer for the Ducks momentum, as Stevens' bench picked up where their starters began, finishing off the game with a scorer's touch.
