HOUGHTON, NY—St. John Fisher pounded out 23 hits, including nine doubles and a homerun, and accepted eight free passes from Houghton pitchers on their way to a 23-2 victory over the Highlanders on Wednesday evening at the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex.
Scott Eisenmenger nailed a three-run homer to left center in the first inning and the Cardinals scored three more in the second before unloading for seven runs in the third.
Jim Dawson picked up his sixth victory of the season on the bump, pitching six innings and allowing seven hits and two runs without walking a single batter and striking out three.
Ned Monthie (Albany, NY, Christian Brothers Academy) was credited with the loss for the Highlanders.
Tage Johnson (Jamestown, NY, Frewsburg) went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Houghton.
Patrick Parsons (Wellsboro, PA, Wellsboro) tripled and
Michael Knapp (Brockport, NY, Brockport),
Chris Welch (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs) and
Joseph Gilligan (Ringwood, NJ, Lakeland Regional) each doubled.
The Highlanders return to action on Friday when they travel to Ithaca College to take on the Bombers in the first of a three-game set at 4:00 p.m.
