AURORA, N.Y. -- Wells College scored six times in the second quarter to break open a close game and cruised to a 21-9 win over Houghton men's lacrosse Saturday.

Cole Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) got back to back tallies to give the Highlanders a 2-1 lead. The teams would then exchange goals over the next 10 minutes of the first quarter. After
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Grenville District) scored to give Houghton a 3-2 lead, Wells scored twice, before Austin Andryshak put one past the keeper to make it 4-4.
However, the Houghton offense dried up as the first quarter wound down and the second quarter began. The Express scored four-straight goals, and after a
Joshua Bailey (Millerton, PA, Williamson) tally, Wells scored three of the next four to go into the halftime break with am 11-6 lead.
Paul Chapman scored the first two goals of the third quarter to make it interesting, but Wells outscored the Highlanders 10-1 over the last 27 minutes of the game to claim the win.
The Chapman brothers finished with three goals each. Wells outshot Houghton, 53-33, and had a 47-39 edge in ground balls. Houghton won 20 of 34 faceoffs on the afternoon, with
Nathan Moore (Kane, PA, Kane) going 19-for-31. Moore also finished with 12 ground balls.
Christopher Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY, Horseheads) made 13 stops in net.
Houghton (0-3) is back in action on Saturday, March 19 when they host Ohio Northern at 1 p.m.
