Reed, Detwiler Key for Highlanders Down Stretch in Win Over Pioneers

ALFRED, N.Y. – Elle Reed scored a Houghton-career-high 26 points, including the last six points of the game, and Madison Detwiler had five blocked shots in the fourth quarter to lead the Highlanders to a 57-52 victory over the Alfred State Pioneers.

Reed, who leads the Highlanders in scoring with 19.7 points per game, sank the game-tying and go-ahead free throws with 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

On the ensuing Alfred State possession, Detwiler swatted her fifth block of the quarter—seventh of the game—to keep the Pioneers from retaking the lead.

Reed then sank four more free throws in the final seconds to put the Highlanders back in the win column.
