LA PLUME, Pa. -- Despite another game in which they outshot their opponent, Houghton field hockey couldn't pull out the victory, losing at Keystone College, 2-1, on Wednesday.

The Giants scored the game's first goal just six minutes in, but the Highlanders managed to even the score at a goal apiece just 12 minutes later when Tanya Hatton netted her team-leading 10th of the campaign. Kelsie Ashley picked up the assist.

The would remain deadlocked through the rest of the first half. Houghton held a 7-5 edge in shots in the opening 35 minutes.

As the second half progressed, the Highlanders managed to send more shots toward goal than the Giants did, but it was the hosts who would score to break the tie in the 61st minute.

Elizabeth Piszker made five stops in net.

Shots for the contest were 12-8 in favor of the Highlanders.

Houghton's record falls to 7-6, while Keystone improves to 4-7.

The Highlanders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they host Utica College in an E8 matchup at 1 p.m.
