Highlanders Drop E8 Matchup to Ducks

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Four players scored in double digits for the Stevens Ducks as they cruised past the Houghton Highlanders in Empire 8 Conference action on Friday night, 63-98.

After averaging only 12.5 turnovers per game in their last four contests the Highlanders doubled that figure tonight, giving away possession 25 times, a feat matched only one other time this season.

The Ducks committed only 10 turnovers on the night.

After scoring the game's first nine points, Stevens raced to an early 14-point advantage before the Highlanders pulled to within seven with just over seven minutes to go.

The Ducks, however, would pull away through the remaining minutes, building a 24 point lead going into the half.

While the Highlanders would show a number of statistical improvements in the second half, they continued to struggle from the floor, shooting only 30.4 percent for the game and 18.5 percent from beyond the arch.

Seven minutes into the second half a pair of Phil Pellegrino (Rochester, NY, Alfred University) free throws pulled the Highlanders to within 23, but that would be as close as they would come as the Ducks pulled away down the stretch.
