DELAWARE, Ohio – Kristin McKane (Clayville, NY, Mount Markham) scored in the second half for the Highlanders, but Houghton field hockey came up a goal short in a 2-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan University on the road Saturday.
 
The hosts scored off a penalty stroke in the 10th minute to take the early lead and added an insurance goal in the 48th minute. McKane's goal came just five minutes later off an assist from Kelsie Ashley (Landisville, PA, Hempfield HS). Houghton withstood six shots and three penalty corners by Ohio Wesleyan over the game's final 10 minutes.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Houghton, 16-4, on the afternoon.

Elizabeth Piszker (Glens Mills, PA, Cardinal O'Hara) made seven saves in net.

Houghton (1-1) hosts Oswego in their next contest on Wednesday, September 9.
