Men's Soccer Plays Scoreless Draw at Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Houghton men's soccer earned a 0-0 tie with Stevens Tech on Saturday.

Houghton couldn't find its offense early, as the visitors were held without a shot over the first 20 minutes of the opening half. At that point, the Ducks opened up its attack, reeling off three shots and five corners over a six minute period. Houghton had its best opportunity with a shot in the final two minutes of the half, but the Ducks keeper made a strong save to preserve the clean slate.

Both teams went back and forth in the early part of the second before a header from the Ducks sailed wide. The hosts continued the pressure with three late shots, but none found the frame.

The Ducks produced two more chances in extra time, but Houghton keeper Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) stopped the first, while the second went wide.

Stevens outshot the Highlanders, 17-8, for the game. Dunnett finished with six saves.

Houghton (4-3-2; 1-0-1 E8) has a week off before welcoming St. John Fisher to Burke Field for Homecoming on October 3.
