UTICA, N.Y. -- Houghton men's lacrosse closed the Empire 8 portion of its schedule Saturday with a 26-5 loss at Utica.

The Pioneers (8-8; 3-5 E8) scored eight times in the first quarter, four in in the second, six in the third and eight in the fourth.

Houghton scored two goals in both the second and third quarters and a solo tally in the fourth.

Paul Chapman, Justin Flint, Sean Daigler, Cameron Groff and Josh Bailey each scored.

Nathan Moore led the team with seven groundballs, three caused turnovers and 11 faceoff wins.

Josh Haingray made 21 saves in the loss.

The Highlanders close their season at SUNY Canton on Tuesday, April 28.
