ALFRED, N.Y. -- Houghton men's lacrosse continued to struggle in Empire 8 Conference play, losing 22-3 at Alfred University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Highlanders jumped ahead 1-0 in the game's first two minutes off an unassisted tally from Sean Daigler. The Saxons then scored 14 straight goals over the rest of the first quarter and the first 12 minutes of the second quarter. Paul Chapman broke up the run with the Highlanders' second goal, before Alfred finished the first half scoring less than a minue later to take a 15-2 lead into the break.
The Saxons scored all six goals in the third quarter and the teams scored a goal apiece in the fourth quarter. Houghton's goal came off the stick of freshman Justin Flint.
Jordan Warren started in goal and registered 10 stops in 36:34. Zachary Jackson played the final 23:26, allowing three goals and making three saves.
Houghton (1-4) is back in action when they host Medaille on Saturday at Burke Field.
