HOUGHTON, N.Y.—Five different players scored in double digits as the Houghton Highlanders (1-1) picked up their first win of the season, defeating the Oberlin Yeomen (2-1), 95-86.
After building a 23 point lead with less than seven minutes remaining in the game, the Highlanders withstood a veracious comeback by the Yeomen, who cut the lead to four with less than a minute to play.
However, the Yeomen missed a pair of layups and gave away a key turnover down the stretch and the Highlanders sank five free throws to put the game out of reach.

Antonio Deadmon (Dallas, TX, Texas Southern) finished the game a rebound shy of a triple-double (10 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds), while
Phil Pellegrino (Rochester, NY, Alfred University) led the Highlanders in scoring with 18 points.
Johnathan Stowe (Toronto, ON, Canada, Don Mills Collegiate Institute) scored 17 points and pulled down 7 boards, and
Tyler McQuaid (Lowman, NY, Twin Tiers Christian Academy) added 15 points and 8 boards for the Highlanders.
Brandon Camacho (Dundee, NY, Dundee High School) also scored 10 points.
The Highlanders once again took care of business on the glass, out-rebounding the Yeomen 51-38.For the Yeomen Jack Poyle led all scorers with 29 points, 20 of which came in the second half. Randy Ollie and Zach Moo Young also pulled down nine rebounds apiece.
Houghton travels to Aurora, N.Y. tomorrow to take on the Wells College Express at 3:00 p.m.
