ITHACA, N.Y. -- Houghton men's soccer earned a 1-1 tie at Ithaca in an Empire 8 matchup on Saturday.

The tie ends Houghton's chance at a berth in the E8 tournament.

Ithaca got on the board first getting a goal in the 25th minute from Sean Forward. The Highlanders responded in the 38th minute on a long shot from outside the box from sophomore Tyler Inch (McAllisterville, PA, East Juniata). Connor Vogan (Orchard Park, NY, Orchard Park) got the assist.

Shots were even at 13 apiece. Houghton outshot the Bombers, 3-2, in overtime.

Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) made five stops in net.

Houghton (6-8-2; 1-3-2 E8) returns to action to host long-time rival Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Ithaca's record is 4-6-3, but they hold a 4-1-1 mark in conference play.
