Isaac Castellano began his role as assistant men's basketball coach in July of 2019.

Coach Castellano graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in May of 2019 with a degree in Secondary Education—Broad Field Science.  While at UWRF he played four seasons under then-assistant coach Lance Westberg, compiling a career record of 70-37 (.664) and winning the 2016-2017 WIAC regular season and post-season tournament championship.

Relentlessly devoted to academic and athletic excellence, and the care of his teammates, Castellano received the UWRF John Kinney Teammate of the Year Award in each of his final three seasons, and in 2018-19 earned the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award.

Prior to joining the Highlander coaching staff, Castellano served as an assistant at both the high school and AAU levels, and engaged his community through various volunteer activities.

Coach Westberg stated: “I am excited to have Isaac Castellano on staff this year. Isaac has a strong faith, natural leadership ability, and unique personality to which people gravitate. He will do a great job connecting and mentoring players.

“I had the privilege of coaching Isaac during his time at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and was always impressed with his commitment to doing whatever the team needed at the time. He knows the game of basketball and is a proven winner. I look forward to seeing him grow as a coach, and seeing the impact he will make on young men as he becomes a rising star in the college basketball coaching ranks.”

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Castellano teaches math and science at Houghton Academy.

He and his wife Camille Castellano reside in Houghton.
